I picked this line up from my pastor. He says this quite often. I had the opportunity to address the chapels at Grace School today. I am so grateful for a place that teaches the truth, even at the elementary level.
I am concerned however. I have the privilege of being a Jr. High pastor. I love this ministry. I was looking at the statistics for our ministry and about 80% of our students are either homeschooled or private Christian Schooled. While this has HUGE benefits, it also offers some unique problems. I addressed the Jr. High students today on the Dangers of Grace School.
Following is a list of the dangers that come with living in the protected truth shell. I long to see these students love Christ more than anything else in life. I pray often for this and it breaks my heart that many of these students know the facts but their hearts have not been changed by God.
Here are some dangers of being in a sheltered world
1. Hypocrisy
2. Becoming Overly Casual with the Truth - contrast Neh 8.
3. Developing a Hard hearts that refuses to respond
4. Apathy
5. Undervaluing of the family (by over exalting teachers, youth pastors, etc...)
6. Arrogance – knowledge without humility is a sad sight.
7. High Accountability to the Truth – much is expected from those to whom much has been given.
8. Exclusivity
9. Moral but Lost Students - see Mt. 7.21-23
- Hell is going to be full of people who could beat you in Bible Trivia. the issue is not knowledge, the issue is the heart.

I like your blog Mr. Cagle. Hey, if you don't mind (and even if you do, I'm going to do it anyway), I'm going to use your little list in a sermon that I am giving at our schools chapel. Thank you for the excellent sermon filler (who says you can't get everything you need for a good sermon off the internet:)
No copyright in heaven. It’s a providential day that you find something useful on my site. I set that list up with a list of positives that I’ll attach for what it’s worth.
The benefits of being at GCS:
1. Good Biblical Teaching
2. All Classes are from a Christian Perspective
3.Teachers Who Care
-about academics and spiritual
4. Protection from Worldly Influences
5. Christian Community
- you learn how the body of Christ is supposed to function
6. Local Church accountability
I’ve enjoyed reading your thoughts as well on your blog. I feel like I have another part time job trying to keep up with everyone’s sites.
